When I began working with West LegalEdcenter’s accreditation, we were offering about 1,000 unique programs and issuing credit in 5 to 8 states on a regular basis. Now, we provide accreditation for 8,000 plus programs in all 45 jurisdictions each year. The volume of paperwork required to make this happen is staggering.
If we had continued to accredit our programs with the same “process” (and believe me, I do use the quotation marks deliberately) as when we had begun, we would have soon become overwhelmed. Buried under paperwork, making mistakes on applications, failing to report attendance, not issuing Certificates in a proper manner. All would have been consequences of the lack of process under which we first operated.
The bottom line is get organized: get a handle on your own internal process for dealing with the tidal wave of paper and deadlines that will flow your direction when you decide to become a multistate provider. Get systems in place so that minute details do not fall through the cracks. Remember technology is our greatest ally in the pursuit of organization. In future posts, I’ll share with you some of my own organization tips and tricks.
