2011 has certainly had its share of ups and downs for me, and I want to begin this post by thanking all of the many wonderful and generous folks who have turned what has been (in large part) a pretty awful beginning into some joy for me. My 2011 ACLEA debut was somewhat marred by two full-on black eyes, but the outpouring of concern and support was heartwarming.
Once back in Minnesota, I had barely returned to work when I was hit (it felt like literally) by a terrible cold and sinus infection that has been traveling through our department since the beginning of the year. By this point, I feel as if the cosmos owes me something good - like winning the lottery!
I'm back to my piles of work, have almost no visible bruising left, and still continue to hear from friends and colleagues wishing me all the best. Thanks to all who have been so kind and supportive - its almost as good as winning the lottery - but, and no offense meant, I'd still like to actually get the big check!
