I have, without a doubt, the best staff that is working today in CLE (or any industry for that matter). As I prepare for the Kansas CLE Commission's Provider Conference next week, I have to pause to thank them for a couple of reasons:
1. I know that I can always rely on them to keep things on track when I'm out of the office. I travel quite a bit (12-15 trips per year) and I'm glad to know that it doesn't really matter if I'm in the office. Sad but true, I'm not critical to the day-to-day anymore. Actually, I'm pretty happy about that as it gives me time to focus on the more strategic operations of the department while being confident that our customers and regulators are being served.
2. My staff is fun - they are smart, funny, quirky, interesting people. I love coming into work in large part because of these folks. For example, Emily, one of my Accreditation Specialists, will be attending the conference with me next week. While planning the drive from Kansas City to Topeka - her email: "Thelma, meet your Louise." Hilarious! Good thing there are no cliffs in Kansas - pointed out by my other Accreditation Specialist, John. But with a staff like mine, I happily don't need to go out in a blaze of glory.
